Ok I am soooooooo going to blame my hormones on this one… I am crying like a baby after reading this post. What a special young lady Whitney is and how blessed she was to have such caring men around her to help her along the way. I can just picture you men carrying her…tired…but never letting her know that so she could have an amazing experience despite her physical impairments. I have no doubt this is something she will never forget. Thank you for sharing this story.

What a sweet story!! I’m so glad you were able to fulfill you goal of carrying someone across the river. How awesome that Sister Sillivan was in tune enough to realize your disappointment and allow you to carry her. What a sweet woman! I’m so jealous you’ve been able to visit Martin’s Cove THREE times!!! What an awesome experience!!

My daughter Julia is an expert in hair cutting if you’d like me to fly her out to you. She’s a pro at the age of 5! LOL! I should email you the pictures of her “self” hair cut. It was pretty sad. She cut it to the scalp, but couldn’t reach all of it in the back, so she had an instant mullet. Not pretty. We have since locked away ALL pair of scissors.

I really only cut my bangs myself and leave the rest to someone else. There have been slight exceptions but even then I luck out because i can always put it up on my head. And I can wear my hair curly (natural curl) which helps hide any uneven parts.

I told you to buy some books before you left!! I even gave you a list of some to find. When I move to a new place I like to drive around or walk around to get to know the area. You can find a lot of cool things you would never know existed. Sorry about the movie experience. It may have been embarrassing for you but it’s hilarious for the rest of us. Thanks!

I guess I should clarify something in light of your comment sara-smiles1. What I wrote about the lady at the theatre door was my interpretation of what her smile could have meant. She could have just been thinking that I looked embarrassed and understood. I don’t know. At any rate, I just wanted to throw it out that she didn’t say a word to me and I have no idea what she was really thinking.

There is so much I want to say about your post! First of all, you’re a terrific writer! I was laughing out loud when you described the movie experience Besides which, being from a small town in Nebraska myself, I know what it’s like! My thoughts about the movie were identical to yours. I can’t believe the nerve of that lady – but closed-mindedness is to be expected in some of those small towns.

Yeah, for some reason it does not gross me out when people do it stretching or by accident, but when they sit there and bend every one of their knuckles from side to side until they have popped them all, it grosses me out. Also when my brother does it with his ankle… EWww!
